Self-Guided Tours Available Via Smartphone at Sweetwater Wetlands

Tucson Water and Arizona Project WET are offering a series of self-guided tours at the Sweetwater Wetlands, 2551 W. Sweetwater Drive.

The Discovery Program engages visitors through a journey along the path that surrounds the ponds and recharge basins. Guests can use a QR code reader app on any smart device to view the Wetlands in a scientific way as they navigate around the 60-acre site.

City Recruiting Groundskeepers

The City of Tucson is seeking groundskeepers to work in its Parks and Recreation department to help maintain and repair park amenities and grounds.

Duties include using hand tools and power equipment, washing and disinfecting ramadas and restrooms, removing litter and graffiti from parks and lakes, and helping with special events, rentals, and volunteer organizations. The work schedule varies and requires weekend and holiday work.

Traffic Alert - Grant Road Improvement Project Phase II - Stone Avenue to Park Avenue - Stone Avenue Travel Restrictions at Grant Road

On Wednesday, August 8, 2018, beginning at 5 a.m., the northbound and southbound median island travel lanes on Stone Avenue from Sahuaro Street to Alturas Street will be closed to traffic. The travel lane closures will be in place until about 3 p.m. on Thursday, August 9, 2018. The closure will allow work crews to safely conduct median island work at the Stone Avenue and Grant Road intersection.

Southeast Arizona Birding Festival Begins This Week

The Tucson Audubon Society is hosting the Southeast Arizona Birding Festival this Wednesday through Sunday, Aug. 8-12. The DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel-Reid Park, 445 S. Alvernon Way, is the headquarters for the event.

The schedule includes free talks and workshops, as well as half-day, full-day, and overnight field trips to southeast Arizona’s best birding sites. Workshops and trips are led by local and international experts.
