Arizona Symphonic Winds at Udall Park

The Arizona Symphonic Winds kicks off its spring concert series tomorrow, May 11, at 7 p.m. at Udall Park, 7200 E. Tanque Verde Road. All concerts are free to the public and will begin at 7 p.m. at the László Veres Amphitheater in the park.

Attendees are invited to bring lawn chairs, blankets, a picnic basket, and enjoy an evening of entertainment for the whole family. The concert schedule continues every Saturday at 7 p.m., through June 1.

New Artwork Debuts at City Hall

Tucson Mayor Jonathan Rothschild and City Manager Michael Ortega, in coordination with Arts for All, present a new art exhibition at City Hall. Arts for All, Inc. is a local nonprofit which provides accessible education, training, and experiences in the arts to children, particularly those with special needs. Work by 10 artists will be displayed in the Mayor's Office and City Manager's Office.

Thrive in the 05 Spring Festival and Resource Fair, May 11th, 2019

This Saturday the Ward 3 office, along with a number of local non-profit and community organizations, will be hosting the Thrive in the 05 Spring Festival and Resource Fair. I’m excited about bringing families and neighbors together in Ward 3 and around the city. There will be opportunities to learn about available discounts and services through Community Action Agency and Tucson Water, activities for the kids and free flowers for moms. 
 

University of Arizona Commencement, Sixth Street Closure

On Friday, May 10, 2019, beginning at 4:30 p.m., Sixth Street from Warren Avenue to Martin Avenue will be closed to travel for the University of Arizona Commencement. Sixth Street will reopen to travel following the commencement ceremony.

The University of Arizona Commencement is scheduled to begin at 7:30 pm., with gates open to guests at 5:30 p.m. and an anticipated 40,000 attendees. For more information about the event, visit: https://commencement.arizona.edu/.

Traffic Alert: Speedway and Kolb Signal Work

The traffic signals at the Speedway Boulevard and Kolb Road intersection will not be in operation tomorrow, May 9, as crews replace underground conduit and wiring. The work will begin at 8 a.m. and is anticipated to be completed by 4 p.m. the same day. The schedule could change due to unforeseen circumstances.

Police officers will direct travel through the intersection until the work is finished. You can expect delays when driving in the area. Please obey all traffic control signs and watch for construction personnel in the work zone.

Celebrate Mother's Day in the Oracle Road Area

The THRIVE in the 05 Spring Festival and Resource Fair will take place this Saturday, May 11, 9 a.m.-noon, at Richey Resource Center, 2209 N. 15th Ave. Since the event is a day before Mother's Day, there will be free flowers for mothers, as well as raffles, games, free food and music, and information about local resources. There also will be the unveiling of a butterfly mural.

City Planning Department Has Online Inspection Dashboard

The City of Tucson's Planning and Development Services Department (PDSD) offers an online Inspection Dashboard, which makes field inspections paperless and allows the public access to information related to their scheduled inspections. The Inspection Dashboard lets customers know the inspector assigned to them, the results of their inspections, and links to permit data.

City Hiring Dance Instructor

The Tucson Parks and Recreation department is looking for an experienced dance instructor to teach hip-hop, ballet, tap, folklorico, and creative dance. This is a non-permanent position that will work on an intermittent or seasonal basis. Job responsibilities include providing leadership and instruction regarding beginner to advanced techniques, supervising multiple participants of different ages, and developing a syllabus prior to classes.

Houghton Road Corridor Projects - Public Open House

The City of Tucson Department of Transportation (TDOT) and Regional Transportation Authority (RTA) invite you to attend a public open house for four Houghton Road Corridor projects.
