City Services on Display at SAHBA Home & Patio Show This Weekend

City of Tucson Water, Environmental & General Services, Parks and Recreation, Transportation, Fire, and Police departments will be among more than 300 exhibitors at the 2019 SAHBA Home & Patio Show, April 12-14, at the Tucson Convention Center, 260 S. Church Ave. The City displays will be located in Aisle 1100.

Staff will have information on the variety of services offered to residents and businesses in Tucson city limits. Learn how you can get involved and stay informed.

City Hiring Principal Contract Officer

The City of Tucson is seeking a principal contract officer to procure complex technical services and commodities and manage elaborate procurement projects. The position is responsible for managing a team, reviewing and approving the work of team members, mentoring team members, and acting as a liaison with the different City departments to which they are providing procurement services.

City Has New Residential Parking Permit Option

The City of Tucson is now allowing people to buy or renew their annual residential parking permits through the GoTucson Parking mobile app. To do so, you first need to download the app and create an account (if you don't already have one).

Once you have the app, click the three horizontal bars in the upper left corner, find "Links," and select "Permits." From there, you'll be able to select your neighborhood and follow the prompts to submit your request for approval. 

National Work Zone Awareness Week Underway

The 2019 National Work Zone Awareness Week is April 8-12, and this year’s theme is “Drive Like You Work Here.” Since 1999, this annual event has been held to bring national attention to motorist and worker safety and mobility issues in work zones. According to the Federal Highway Administration, one person dies, on average, every 13 hours, and one person is injured every 13 minutes in a work zone in the United States.

Research Address With Property Research Online

Property Research Online (PRO) is a tool for locating property information for an address in the City of Tucson. Users can enter their address or assessor's parcel number to find data for permit activity (permit history, active permits, or violations), zoning and parcel information, property jurisdiction (City or Pima County limits), and much more.

PRO refreshes four times a day to give greater access to permit information.

Parents Night Out This Week

Enjoy three hours of free time on Friday, April 12, 4:30-7:45 p.m., while your kids have organized activities with Tucson Parks and Recreation. The event will be held at Udall Recreation Center, 7200 E. Tanque Verde Road.

The cost per child (ages 5-11 only) is $4. The kids will play supervised games and watch the movie FernGully: The Last Rainforest. Pizza, popcorn, and drinks will be served during the movie and are included in the fee.

City Hiring System Operators for Water Department

The City of Tucson is recruiting water system operators to join the Tucson Water department. The positions are responsible for the central control operations of the potable and reclaimed water distribution systems. Operators use SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) to operate, monitor, and control water treatment facilities, distribution systems, and related equipment.

Last week, County School Superintendent Dustin Williams announced an initiative to combat vaping among Southern Arizona teens. The campaign, called Real Deal on Vaping, will use social media to help combat peer pressure. A recent survey said that 47% of area teens have tried vaping.

Cyclovia Tucson This Weekend

Cyclovia Tucson takes place on Sunday, April 7, 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Start the day at the new Banner—University Medicine hospital tower with a tour of the new lobby, a ballet folklórico performance, mariachis, the Tucson Roadrunners hockey team, a zip line, food trucks, and more. Parking is available at the Diamond Children’s garage, 1625 N. Campbell Ave.
