The El Día De San Juan Coalition and Tucson Water are partnering to create a unique event celebrating water in the desert on Monday, June 24. Following the kickoff of the Santa Cruz River Heritage Project (see related story), the El Día De San Juan Fiesta begins at 5:45 p.m. with the traditional procession through Barrio Sin Nombre to Mission Gardens.
The fiesta officially starts at the Mercado San Agustin (MSA) Annex (267 S. Avenida del Convento) at 6 p.m. and ends at 10 p.m. There will be live music and entertainment, local food and craft vendors, free water and water bottles, family activities, and community resources.
The event is free to attend, and parking is available in the lots directly in front of and behind the MSA Annex. The fiesta is also accessible by taking the Sun Link streetcar to either of the two Mercado San Agustin stops.
This year’s event is organized by the El Día De San Juan Coalition and supported by the offices of Ward 1 City Council Member Regina Romero and Pima County Board of Supervisors' Chair Richard Elías (District 5).
