The votes are in, and the tapir calf at Reid Park Zoo is now named Toliver. The Zoo received thousands of online votes in the naming contest, so it will sending a $3,000 donation to help protect tapirs in the wild.
Unfortunately, Toliver is not feeling his best and is not on exhibit today. He's resting behind the scenes with his mom. Toliver developed a cough a few days ago, and an examination determined he has a respiratory infection. Keepers and veterinarians are watching him carefully. Over the past week, 1,818 people voted to name the tapir Toliver, while 1,641 chose the name Titus.
