Bighorn Fire Continues Its Rapid Growth

As of this morning, June 18, the Bighorn Fire in the Coronado National Forest has grown to 31,208 acres and is 40% contained. It's currently burning through dense fuel as it creeps closer to the western edge of the Summerhaven community.

As part of the "Ready, Set, GO!" process, the Willow Canyon area of Mt. Lemmon is now in the “GO!” state and is being evacuated. The general boundaries of the "GO!" zone are the lower Catalina Highway/lower Mt. Lemmon Communities from Organization Ridge Road to South Willow Canyon.

Catalina Highway remains closed to the public at milepost zero. Only residents and business owners may pass. Campgrounds on Mount Lemmon also are closed. Residents in the fire area can contact the Pima County Sheriff’s Department at (520) 351-FIRE (3473) with evacuation questions.
