Bighorn Fire Grows to Nearly 15,000 Acres But is More Contained

As of this morning, June 15, the Bighorn Fire in the Coronado National Forest has grown to more than 14,675 acres and is 22% contained. However, the lightning-caused fire's progression to the northeast is moving toward the Mt. Lemmon community of Summerhaven.

The area of Mt. Lemmon and Mt. Bigelow, just north of Rose Canyon Lake, is now in “Set” orders, where residents are urged to voluntarily leave or be prepared to evacuate. Catalina Highway is closed at milepost zero and the Pima County Sheriff's Department is only letting in residents and business owners. Residents can call (520) 351-3473 if they have questions about the fire.
