The City of Tucson is seeking an assistant public defender to advise indigent clients on a wide range of direct and collateral consequences of criminal prosecution. This is a one-year, grant-funded position and/or a full-time position.
A public defender works under the supervision of senior and experienced attorneys. Duties include defending clients in City Court, performing pretrial functions, and assisting with administrative duties.
A Juris Doctor and experience in criminal litigation are required for the position. Applicants who sat for the bar exam, but have not yet received their Arizona State Bar License, are eligible to be considered. The deadline to apply is June 28. Virtual oral board interviews will be held the week of July 6.
