The City of Tucson's Office of Equal Opportunity Programs (OEOP) is the recipient of the 2017 Diversity Award from the Diversity Leadership Alliance (DLA) and Arizona Society for Human Resource Management (AZSHRM).
The award was presented at the DLA’s 16th Annual Diversity Conference and Awards luncheon Annual Conference and Awards Luncheon in Phoenix last week. The special statewide award, recognizing the inclusion and diversity initiatives of a nonprofit or government entity, was selected among numerous nominations and was a first for the City of Tucson.
City OEOP Director Rebecca Hill submitted the nomination to recognize the “One City, One Team” inclusive culture and diversity training mandates under the leadership of City Manager Michael Ortega. The DLA has been working since 2001 to transform the culture of Arizona and cultivate an inclusive community. AZSHRM represents seven local chapters and is the trusted resource to engage, educate and advocate for HR professionals.
