Comcast officially signed the lease on the former American Home Furnishings building near Tucson Mall to house the media company's new call center, IT, and Spanish-language social media operations. The company says it plans to add 1,125 jobs in May. Renovation of the facility is expected to start immediately.
The new center will make Comcast one of the top 40 employers in Southern Arizona. Mayor and Council voted in June to award Comcast the Primary Jobs Incentive benefit, which would waive City building permit fees and allocate construction sales tax generated by the project to impact fees, public infrastructure improvements, or job training.
