Real estate brokers say 2016 should be a busy year for commercial development. That's because deals were reached last year on nearly 1 million square feet of space for stores larger than 10,000 square feet.
The largest building under construction is the 100,000-square-foot Fry’s Food & Drug store on West Valencia Road near Midvale Park Road, according to data from the 2015 year-end Big Box Retail Report.
Other new projects include a couple of Walmart Neighborhood Markets, Dave & Buster's, Hobby Lobby, Beall's Outlet, and more.
Many non-historic and vacant buildings will be demolished or repurposed as part of urban infill.
