Department of Transportation and Mobility Awarded Safety Grant

The Federal Highway Administration’s Highway Safety Improvement Program recently awarded $7.8 million in funding to the Tucson Department of Transportation and Mobility to help significantly reduce traffic fatalities and serious injuries on all public roads.

Projects include five miles of new street lighting, 10 pedestrian HAWK signals, and traffic signal upgrades at 62 intersections. Design work on the projects are scheduled to begin in the fall of 2022, with the improvements slated to begin the following fall.
