Tucson’s 23rd Annual Parade of Lights and Festival is this Saturday, Dec. 16, at Jacome Plaza, outside the Joel D. Valdez Main Library, 101 N. Stone Ave.
The event opens with the Carondelet Health Fair at 3 p.m. Food, drink, and dessert vendors will be set up in the plaza. At 4:30 p.m., the TaliasVan’s Bright & Morning Star Choir and Orchestra will perform, followed by the Tucson Barber Shop Experience at 5:30 p.m. The tree lighting ceremony with Mayor Jonathan Rothschild takes place at 6 p.m. at the plaza.
The parade begins at 6:30 p.m. at Alameda Street and Church Avenue and then heads south on Church Avenue, east on Pennington Street, north on 6th Avenue, west on Toole Avenue, south on Stone Avenue, and back to the Main Library. Awards will be presented in several parade categories. Santa Pachita performs live at 7:30 p.m. and will help close out the festival.
