The first group of roadway improvement projects related to the Tucson Delivers: Better Streets program is complete. These projects included reconstructing and repaving four sections of roadway on the west side of Tucson: Starr Pass Boulevard (Lost Starr Drive to Calle Camino Santiago), La Cholla Boulevard (Starr Pass Boulevard to Ajo Way), Congress Street (Silverbell Road to Grande Avenue), and Speedway Boulevard (Painted Hills Road to Greasewood Road).
Additional work involved removing old asphalt and repaving Starr Pass Boulevard (Calle Santa Cruz to the Interstate 10 frontage road). For safety, flexible delineators were added to Starr Pass Boulevard and Speedway Boulevard to separate the bike lanes from the vehicle lanes.
In May 2017, Tucson voters approved Tucson Delivers, a five-year, half-cent transaction privilege sales tax to fund street improvements and public safety investments.
