G.A.I.N. stands for Getting Arizona Involved in Neighborhoods and is Arizona's answer to National Night Out, which is held in August. Because of high summer temperatures, communities statewide decided to observe National Night Out in October and call it G.A.I.N.
This year’s events, on Thursday, Oct. 17, are a celebration for the successes of crime prevention through community involvement. Participating neighborhoods citywide are asked to turn on outside lights, lock their doors, and spend the evening outside with neighbors and police.
Some neighborhoods will be hosting a variety of events ranging from small potlucks to large block parties. Commanders and officers will be visiting to promote positive interaction with law enforcement. To learn if there is a G.A.I.N. event in your neighborhood, please contact your patrol division or neighborhood association.
