Guidance Framework for Direct Potable Reuse in Arizona, a final report published by the National Water Research Institute, is now available to the public. The report provides recommendations on the development of regulations in Arizona for direct potable reuse (DPR). The DPR recommendations are intended to be protective of public health and incorporate a level of public health protection as good or better than provided by conventional drinking water supplies.
Tucson Water supports communities having the option to use recycled water as a drinking water source, and the utility was actively involved in the committees that cooperated in the development of these recommendations. The report helps ensure that communities considering DPR have guidelines in place for public health and safety.
