Beginning tonight, crews from Borderland Construction, under contract with the City of Tucson Department of Transportation (TDOT), will close the intersection of Houghton Rd. and 22nd St. The initial plan to upgrade the water lines at the intersection called for three weeks' worth of work that would close various travel lanes at various times. By completely closing the intersection, crews will be able to expedite the improvements and complete the work in three days rather than three weeks. Adjacent businesses will still be accessible during this project. The Houghton Road project is part of the voter-approved $2.1 billion Regional Transportation Authority (RTA) Plan that will be implemented through 2026.
