The Tucson Sugar Skulls are the latest addition to Tucson's sports scene. At a public unveiling of the team's name and logo last night, Tucson Indoor Football officially became the Sugar Skulls, as a nod to the popular sugar skull logo in the city's annual Day of the Dead and All Souls Procession. The team's logo features a sugar skull wearing sunglasses and a sombrero surrounded by two guitar necks.
Leah Rhey of Sahuarita suggested Sugar Skulls as part of the team naming contest, winning two season tickets for the games. The Tucson Sugar Skulls will play in the Indoor Football League, with games starting in March 2019 at the Tucson Arena.
