The City of Tucson is asking voters on Nov. 6 to consider a $225 million Parks + Connections Bond to fund capital improvements at 100 of our city’s 128 parks. Some of the Proposition 407 enhancements include 22 new playgrounds and renovation or replacement of 36 others. The bond package also would add or replace shade structures over 19 playgrounds.
If passed, the community also would see two pools reopened, 22 pools renovated (slides & diving boards, plaster, tile and decks, bathhouses, filtration systems, etc.), 14 new splash pads, three renovated splash pads, and 11 existing wading pools would be upgraded to splash pads. Bonds would also fund greenways, sports fields and courts, other park improvements, pedestrian safety features, sidewalks, bicycle lanes, and more.
