The Mayor and Tucson City Council tomorrow night will hold a public hearing on three proposals to raise Sun Tran bus fares for the first time in five years. The options from City Manager Michael Ortega, Mayor Jonathan Rothschild, and Council Member Paul Cunningham are different, but all three aim to increase revenue to help the City's finances while maintaining ridership.
From May through July, Sun Tran staff conducted 22 open houses on the options. Even with those options on the table, the City Council could reject all three proposals and leave fares at current levels.
The public hearing will be held during the 5:30 p.m. meeting in Council Chambers.
