Since introducing the program in September 2011, Tucson Water has provided more than 2,500 rainwater harvesting rebates to its customers. The capture, diversion, and storage of rainwater has offset more than 52.8 million gallons of water that would have been used for irrigation. This reduces dependence and money spent on drinking water.
Rebates are offered for passive or active collection systems. Tucson Water also offers grants and loans for low-income customers to install water harvesting systems at their homes.
