Tucson's Sentinel Peak, also known as "A" Mountain, was painted blue this past Friday in honor of local health care workers on the front lines of the COVID-19 crisis.
The effort was led by Pima County Supervisor Sharon Bronson, Pima County Supervisor Betty Villegas, Tucson Mayor Regina Romero, and Ward 1 Tucson Council Member Lane Santa Cruz. The painting coincided with National Nurses Week and National Hospital Week.
Pima County provided the funding for the blue paint, and Tucson Parks and Recreation staff performed the labor. Health care workers from El Rio Community Health Center and Tucson Medical Center were on-site during the painting. Watch the video of the community effort.
