The Mayor and Tucson City Council Wednesday approved a site specific sales tax incentive for a second hotel along the Sun Link streetcar route. The property at the southeast corner of Tyndall Avenue and East Second Street will be developed into a Marriott hotel and feature a public plaza and a private club for University of Arizona faculty and alumni.
An independent financial analysis projects the new development will have an average annual economic impact of approximately $19.3 million, for a total of $154.5 million over eight years. The benefit of the incentive to the developer is projected to be approximately $2 million over eight years. The development will support 320 direct construction jobs. Once complete, the hotel is expected to employ 155 full-time and part-time workers.
