New Pedestrian Device Installed on West Congress Street

Crews from the City of Tucson Department of Transportation, Streets and Traffic Maintenance Division, recently completed installation of a Rectangular Rapid Flashing Beacon (RRFB) across Congress Street, west of Bonita Avenue. The RRFB is the first of its kind in Tucson, although others have been in use throughout Arizona for a few years. The solar-powered beacon is a pedestrian warning device. Pedestrians press a button, causing yellow lights to flash, alerting drivers to their presence.
