NEW APP LAUNCHES FOR METERED PARKING IN TUCSON - Motorists parking in Downtown Tucson and districts along the Sun Link Streetcar route now can pay for metered parking via the new GoTucson smartphone app, launched this week by the City of Tucson Department of Transportation’s Park Tucson. Payment also can be made via a mobile website or local phone number. In addition to parking, the app soon will double as a transit app, allowing people to pay Sun Tran or Sun Link fares. That phase is expected be finalized sometime this spring. A 25-cent convenience fee will be added to each mobile payment transaction. Customers will be informed of the convenience fee before confirming payment. GoTucson was developed in partnership with Charlotte, North Carolina-based Passport. CITY'S PLANNING OFFICE LAUNCHES STREETCAR INVESTMENT GUIDE - The Office of Integrated Planning (OIP) has a new guide for businesses wanting to invest along the nearly 4-mile streetcar corridor. The Corridor Investment Guide was published in collaboration with the City's Planning and Development Services Department and the Office of Economic Initiatives to encourage appropriate, high-quality development and investment along the streetcar route. SOCCER COMPETITION THIS WEEKEND - The Tucson Association of Realtors Shootout (formerly known as the Ft. Lowell Shootout) runs tomorrow through Sunday at various soccer fields around Tucson. Organizers say the event will have 5,000 soccer players, plus their coaches and families in attendance, contributing up to $5 million to the local economy.

STREETCAR PROVES TO BE EFFICIENT WAY TO ATTEND EVENTS IN TUCSON - Since the Sun Link Streetcar service launched in July, area residents have found it to be a convenient and comfortable way to attend events along the nearly four-mile route. Tucson 12 was on hand for last month's 4th Avenue Street Fair and learned how easy it is to ride the streetcar (see video). Plan on riding Sun Link to downtown Gem Show destinations in February and the 4th Avenue Spring Street Fair, March 20-22.

TUCSON CITY GOLF IS HIRING - Tucson City Golf is currently hiring at its five golf courses. Positions include restaurant servers, beverage cart attendants, golf shop attendants, and course maintenance. Job applications are available at the link below. Employees at Tucson City Golf work for OB Sports, which manages the courses under contract to the City of Tucson.
