ENJOY THE FINAL DAYS OF TUCSON GEM, MINERAL AND FOSSIL SHOWCASE - This weekend wraps up two weeks of gem, mineral, fossil, and bead shows around Tucson. The annual Tucson Gem and Mineral Show® - the one that started it all - opened yesterday at the Tucson Convention Center (TCC). Presented by the Tucson Gem and Mineral Society, the show pulls in thousands of treasure hunters from around the world. Free seminars and a Junior Education Area make this show a big draw for local families, too. Tickets can be purchased at the TCC. Children 14 and under get in free with a paying adult. Hours are 10 a.m.-6 p.m. today and tomorrow, and the show will run and 10 a.m.-5 p.m. on Sunday. Sun Link streetcar stops are located on the west side of the TCC, and the City's free GemRide shuttle provides access to an additional 33 shows.

IT'S NOT ONLY HUMANS WHO GET VALENTINE'S DAY TREATS - Keepers at Reid Park Zoo tomorrow will provide animals with valentine-themed treats. Zoo guests can help make valentines for furry, feathery, or scaly Zoo friends. Heart-shaped fish popsicles, valentine-themed piñatas filled with meat, and red and pink decorated boxes will all be part of the animal enrichment fun. As the treats are delivered, Zoo staff will be available to answer questions and discuss the Zoo’s enrichment program. All activities are included with regular admission to the Zoo. No registration is required.
