MAYOR AND COUNCIL APPROVES TAX INCENTIVES FOR MAJOR EMPLOYER - The Tucson City Council voted yesterday to offer the Primary Jobs Incentive to bring a HomeGoods facility to Tucson. The Massachusetts-based company is considering Tucson and a couple of other cities as locations for its new warehouse and distribution center, which would open next year with 410 jobs. The company has made an offer on property near the airport, 3649 E. Corona Road, but hasn’t closed on the sale. The Primary Jobs Incentive provides up to a 100 percent credit of construction sales tax for certain qualifying expenses when specific conditions exist. The City also will waive building permit fees. Pima County previously agreed to offer a tax break to HomeGoods, for a combined offer of more than $6 million in tax breaks over 15 years. Read more from the Arizona Daily Star.
