TUCSON POLICE MAKE DRUG-RELATED ARRESTS IN DOWNTOWN PARK - Undercover officers from the Tucson Police Department’s Street Narcotics Unit made 20 separate purchases of illegal drugs from 12 different suspects in the area and made six arrests yesterday. The drugs included methamphetamine, marijuana, prescription pills (Xanax) and mushrooms. One of those arrested and jailed was 31-year-old Jonathan McLane, who identifies himself as the leader of a homeless encampment in and around Veinte de Agosto Park. VEHICLE ACCESS TO 'A' MOUNTAIN RESTRICTED TOMORROW - The American Cancer Society’s Climb to Conquer Cancer on "A" Mountain tomorrow will restrict user access to Sentinel Peak Park. In order to accommodate the event, Sentinel Peak Road will close at 8 o'clock tonight and will remain closed to vehicles until tomorrow at 1 p.m.

DOWNTOWN LINKS PROJECT HONORED BY PUBLIC WORKS GROUP - Downtown Links Phase II, St. Marys Road/Sixth Street – I-10 to Church Avenue – this week received the Southern Arizona Branch of the American Public Works Association's (APWA) 2015 Project of the Year Award for projects between $5 million and $20 million. The second phase included drainage, lighting and safety improvements, as well as concrete sidewalks, protected bike lanes, desert landscaping, public art, landscaped median islands and new asphalt paving. The overall Downtown Links project from the Regional Transportation Authority (RTA) will result in a four-lane roadway north of the Union Pacific Railroad that will link Barraza-Aviation Parkway and Interstate 10.
