STUDY SHOWS TUCSON IS 12TH BEST-RUN CITY IN UNITED STATES - Tucson is ranked high when it comes to how City leaders spend taxpayer dollars, according to a new study from Wallet Hub. RECRUITMENT UNDERWAY FOR SUMMER POOL EMPLOYEES - The Tucson Parks and Recreation Department is looking for Water Safety Instructors (WSI) and Lifeguards this summer. More than 150 lifeguards and swimming instructors are needed for seasonal work at City of Tucson pools, beginning the week of May 25. Applicants must be at least 16 years old at time of hire and have knowledge of water hazards, lifesaving techniques and first aid. The application deadline is May 31.

DEADLINE EXTENDED FOR SOFTBALL LEAGUE REGISTRATION - The deadline to register for coed or men's slow pitch softball has been extended to Friday. Tucson Parks and Recreation Department is accepting registrations for the Spring 2015 Softball Leagues at the Clements Center, 8155 E. Poinciana Dr. Registration hours are from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. weekdays. The season begins March 23.

TUCSON FIRE DEPARTMENT REMINDS RIDERS OF IMPORTANT SAFETY TIPS - With Bike Fest events next month and plenty of bicyclists on the road this time of year, the Tucson Fire Department is offering tips on how to safely navigate Tucson on two wheels. Tucson Fire Department Capt. Barrett Baker and firefighters from Station 16 urge you to wear a helmet and maximize your visibility. One way to be seen by motorists is to make sure that all bicycles have a red rear reflector and a white headlight, which you can receive for free, while supplies last, at the Light the Night bike light distribution event, March 17 at 5 p.m., at the southeast corner of Broadway Boulevard and Alvernon Way. This will be the last giveaway until October.
