CITY READIES WAITLISTS FOR SUBSIDIZED HOUSING PROGRAMS - The City's Department of Housing and Community Development (HCD) is preparing to open waitlists for three subsidized housing programs. Waitlist applications for public housing units and units in the moderate rehabilitation program will open on June 15 at 10 a.m., while waitlist applications for the Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher program will open on July 1 at 10 a.m. All applications must be completed online through the application portal. A training session for the application portal will be held on June 11 at 3 p.m. at 320 N. Commerce Park Loop, in the Pantano and Santa Cruz rooms. Read the news release and Legal Notice.

FOURTH AVENUE UNDERPASS TO CLOSE THIS WEEKEND TO INSTALL TRAFFIC ARM - The underpass will close to traffic Sunday from 9 p.m.-5 a.m. so crews from the City of Tucson Department of Transportation (TDOT) Streets and Traffic Maintenance Division can reconstruct the median island at the north side of the underpass. Next Monday-Wednesday, the southbound lane of the underpass will be closed to motorists from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. to allow crews to finish work on the traffic gate. The northbound travel lane in the underpass will be open, and bicyclists and pedestrians will have access through the underpass. The work is taking place when the Sun Link streetcar is not in operation. The gate will replace movable barricades that have been used for intermittent, temporary closures of the southbound lane to help keep the streetcar on schedule on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights. NATIONAL DAY OF CIVIC HACKING TOMORROW - The civic hacking event will be hosted at Startup Tucson's CoLab Workspace (17 E. Pennington St.) and is geared toward people and groups who want to make a positive impact in their local community. The 8 a.m.-6 p.m. event tomorrow is an opportunity for people with diverse skills to work on community issues with other innovators, community leaders, and fellow citizens to make Tucson a better place. HOUSEHOLD HAZARDOUS WASTE COLLECTION THIS WEEKEND - Do you have unused paint, chemicals, oils or pesticides sitting in your shed or garage? The City of Tucson is hosting a Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) collection tomorrow from 8 a.m.-noon at the Eastside Service Center, 7575 E. Speedway Blvd. Drop off at HHW is free for City of Tucson residents. There is a fee of $10 for each television and $2 for each monitor brought in without a computer. SUMMER SAFARI NIGHTS PROGRAM CONTINUES TONIGHT AT REID PARK ZOO - Enjoy Reid Park Zoo and cooler evening temperatures at a series of themed nights featuring different zookeeper chats, animal encounters, artifact stations, enrichment-making activities, crafts, and scavenger hunts. The event runs every Friday, 5:30-8 p.m., through July 10. The bands and animal themes change each week. Tonight's themes are Training and Enrichment & World Oceans Day.
