Yesterday marked the start of Domestic Violence Awareness Month in Tucson. To commemorate the 30th anniversary of the designation, several events are planned throughout the month, including Wear Purple Day on Oct. 19.
During the month of October, there will be two collection events to help survivors of domestic violence, lights outside City Hall will be purple, and city fleet vehicles will display bumper stickers in support of domestic abuse victims. Emerge! Center Against Domestic Abuse provides domestic abuse crisis intervention, housing, prevention, education, support, and advocacy services to anyone experiencing domestic abuse.
You can find a calendar of events for this month on the agency's website.
