The 2019 National Disability Employment Awareness Month is being observed to celebrate the contributions of workers with disabilities and educate employers about the value of a workforce inclusive of their skills and talents.
This year's theme is "The Right Talent, Right Now." In Tucson, several events are taking place that support the community through promotion and provision of fitness, recreation, and competitive sports opportunities for people with disabilities.
Many of these events continue through this year and into next year. The Paralympic Sports Fest takes place Saturday, Oct. 26, on the campus of the University of Arizona. The day's schedule includes wheelchair basketball, wheelchair fencing, adaptive golf, handcycling, and more.
