Project to Enhance Walkability and Look of Campbell Avenue

The City of Tucson is working on a beautification project along Campbell Avenue between Grant and Fort Lowell roads. The project seeks to modernize the area and make it prettier and more friendly to pedestrians. The budget for the work is $670,000, which comes from a federal grant and the Regional Transportation Authority.

The project includes installation of eight median islands, sidewalk repairs, new crosswalks, landscaping, and curb ramps. Other features include lush gardens in large, red planters on several corners. City officials began the project in early summer and hope have it completed by the end of November.
