Public Hearing Next Week on Unified Development Code

The City of Tucson’s Planning and Development Services Department (PDSD) is inviting the public to provide comments on two proposed text amendments to the City’s Unified Development Code (UDC) during a public hearing at the Mayor and Tucson Council meeting on Wednesday, Feb. 19. The meeting starts at 5:30 p.m.

The first text proposal is to allow an option for an applicant to process applications for a plan amendment and a rezoning at the same time. Currently, if a plan amendment is required for a proposed rezoning, the applicant must wait for approval of the plan amendment by Mayor and Council prior to the submittal of a rezoning application.

The second is an amendment to the measurement method and distance for the notification processes within the UDC. This change will bring the UDC into conformance with state law and allow for PDSD to streamline its notification process.
