The Mayor and Tucson City Council will hold a public hearing tomorrow night to gather more comments on the Broadway Boulevard: Euclid to Country Club Roadway Improvement Project now that the 30% design plans have been completed and presented to the public. No action is expected to be taken at the hearing, but it will prepare council members for an April 19 vote about whether to approve actions to acquire right of way, approve funding for the Regional Transportation Authority (RTA) for final design and property acquisitions, and to determine if a citizens task force should be reinstated.
Last June, the Mayor and Council adopted a Baseline Alignment Concept for a 6-lane roadway expansion consistent with RTA policy guidance and the recommendations of the Broadway Citizens Task Force.
The project is funded by the City of Tucson, Pima County, and the RTA.
To accommodate an expected large crowd, the public hearing during tomorrow's Regular Meeting at 5:30 p.m. will be held in the Pima County Board of Supervisors Hearing Room, 130 W. Congress St., 1st floor. The earlier Study Session will be held in Council Chambers, 255 W. Alameda St., as usual.
