Regina Romero Wins Democratic Mayoral Primary; Other Primary Races Decided

Ward 1 Tucson City Council Member Regina Romero won the Democratic primary for mayor in yesterday's election, defeating Steve Farley and Randi Dorman. Even though there are still votes to be counted, the lead is wide enough that second-place finisher Farley conceded the race last night. Romero will face Independent Ed Ackerly in the November general election.

Meanwhile, Lane Santa Cruz won the Democratic Tucson City Council primary in Ward 1 and faces Republican Sam Nagy (a write-in candidate) in November; Democratic incumbent Paul Cunningham advances in Ward 2 to face Republican Ewart Williams; and Democrat Nikki Lee and Republican Michael Hicks move on to face each other in Ward 4 on Nov. 5.
