Two Grevy's zebras arrived this week at Reid Park Zoo, while the previous resident moved to his new home in Phoenix.
Tuari, a 9-year-old male, now resides at the Phoenix Zoo as part of a breeding recommendation for the endangered species. Benjamin, a 16-year-old male, and Anna, a 5-year-old female, will fill the Grevy's zebra habitat in Tucson. Benjamin came from San Diego Zoo, and Anna traveled from Sedgwick County Zoo in Wichita, Kansas.
Both zebras are settling in well and will be introduced to the zebra habitat and each other over the coming weeks. These zebras also have a breeding recommendation as part of the Association of Zoos and Aquariums’ Species Survival Plan®.
