The City of Tucson Transportation Department, Pima County, and the Regional Transportation Authority (RTA) invite the public to attend a ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate the completion of the Houghton Road bridges over the Union Pacific Railroad (UPRR) and the 1.2-mile project from the UPRR bridges to Interstate 10.
The ceremony begins at 9:30 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 14, under the Houghton Road UPRR bridges. The parking area can be accessed by turning east on E. Old Vail Road then south on the first road. Tucson Mayor Jonathan Rothschild, RTA Board Chair Mike Hammond, Tucson Vice Mayor Shirley Scott, and others will help commemorate the project's completion.
Improvements include increased roadway capacity, a multi-use path, drainage improvements, water harvesting, and native plant landscaping. This project is part of the 2006 voter-approved 20-year RTA plan.
