The City of Tucson's Environmental and General Services and Tucson Water departments, along with Ward 3 Council Member Paul Durham, invite the public to a ribbon-cutting for the new Silverbell Pump & Treat Facility, 3600 N. Silverbell Road (by Silverbell Golf Course), on Monday, Oct. 28, at 8:30 a.m.
There will be speakers and displays about the City's newest water remediation facility and how it will treat 1.4 million gallons of water a day contaminated by the closed Silverbell Landfill. It features two Granular Activated Carbon units that will treat the water.
Supporting infrastructure will pump this highly treated groundwater to Tucson Water's nearby Sweetwater Recharge Facility for future use as reclaimed irrigation and landscaping for parks and medians. Refreshments will be served at the ribbon-cutting.
