The first set of roadway improvement projects associated with voter-approved Proposition 101, Tucson Delivers: Better Streets, began today, Feb. 11.
The first phase of the project will include reconstructing and repaving Starr Pass Boulevard from Lost Starr Drive to the Mission Road bridge interchange and La Cholla Boulevard from Starr Pass Boulevard to Ajo Way. Crews will begin work by lowering manhole and water valve covers, and then they will remove asphalt, reconstruct the dirt subgrade, install new asphalt, and raise the manhole and water valve covers flush with the new asphalt.
The crews will work weekdays, 7 a.m.-3:30 p.m., with occasional night work. Business and residential access will be maintained at all times during the project.
Tucson Delivers: Better Streets is a $100 million improvement program made possible by Tucson voters who approved a half-cent sales tax increase in May 2017.
