Celebrate Grant Road Phase II Construction Completion Tomorrow

The City of Tucson and the Regional Transportation Authority (RTA) will celebrate the completion of the Grant Road Improvement Project - Stone Avenue to Park Avenue tomorrow, Oct. 30, at 9:30 a.m. at the southeast corner of Grant Road and Sixth Avenue. Improvements include six vehicular travel lanes, protected bike/pedestrian street crossings, drainage and water harvesting features, indirect left turns at Stone Avenue and First Avenue, new bike lanes, new sidewalks, bus pullouts, bus shelters, and public art.

Final Paving Underway for Houghton Road Bridge Over Union Pacific Railroad

Final paving operations on Houghton Road at the Union Pacific Railroad (UPRR) tracks began this morning, Oct. 29, and will continue through Wednesday, Oct. 31. Crews are paving the final lift of asphalt on the approaches to both the northbound bridge and southbound bridge. Work hours are from 6 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. each day.

City Seeking Recreation Worker for Tucson Parks and Recreation Department

The City of Tucson is recruiting for a recreation worker to help customers at various centers within the Parks and Recreation department. The position assists with planning activities for children, preparing facilities for scheduled functions, and supervising youth activity participants. Candidates must be at least 16 years old, be able to obtain CPR/First Aid certification, and pass a background screening upon hire.

2018 Building Code Adopted

The 2018 Building Code was adopted Tuesday by the Mayor and Tucson City Council. The new codes will take effect on Jan. 1, 2019, and any new submittals after that date must be designed according to the new regulations. Once a plan is submitted officially, the review is based on the regulations that were in effect the day it was received.

Learn More About Playgrounds Proposed in Proposition 407

The City of Tucson is asking voters on Nov. 6 to consider a $225 million Parks + Connections Bond to fund capital improvements at 100 of our city’s 128 parks. Some of the Proposition 407 enhancements include 22 new playgrounds and renovation or replacement of 36 others. The bond package also would add or replace shade structures over 19 playgrounds.
