Skateboarders Want Skate Park Under Interstate 10

Two Tucson men in their 20s want to build a shaded skate park under the I-10 bridge at Cushing Street to allow skaters to practice their sport using the existing shade from the bridge. However, Caleb Gutierrez and Kyle Araishi lack the amount of money needed to build the skate park, and they still would need state and local government approval.

Over the summer, the pair submitted a video to a contest for skate park funding. The sponsoring company, Vans shoes, responded favorably, but told the two it couldn't support a project that doesn't yet have the green light from the relevant government agencies.
