Snow at Reid Park Zoo

There's snow on the grounds of Reid Park Zoo today. The white stuff didn't actually fall at the Zoo, but it was trucked in from Mt. Lemmon for the animals and zoogoers to enjoy.

Keepers try to arrange for the special treat whenever snow is available. It is considered enrichment that is not part of an animal’s daily routine. Even though the snow only is expected to last through today, enrichment can improve an animal’s well-being by increasing exercise, satisfying behavioral needs, or providing species-appropriate stimulation. Creating a varying environment for Zoo residents is an important aspect of whole-life animal care.
