The Mayor and Tucson City Council recently voted to eliminate paper transfers on Sun Tran buses and incorporate an unrestricted two-hour transfer period in any direction on the SunGO Card and SunGO ID & Card. Effective Sept. 1, the change is meant to simplify the transfer policy, reduce costs, and provide an added benefit to passengers.
To make it easy for passengers, Sun Tran will distribute cards ($2 fee will be waived) from 6-9 a.m. and 3-6 p.m. each weekday from Aug. 22 through Sept. 2 at the information booths at all transit centers. There is a limit of one card per passenger. Riders also can get the purchase fee waived on a new SunGO Card from Aug. 22 through Sept. 30, but only if a pass or minimum value of $1 is loaded on the card at a Ticket Vending Machine or sales outlet.
Under the new transfer policy, a loaded transfer on the SunGO card is good for use on Sun Tran, Sun Link, and select Sun Shuttle routes.
