The Tucson Department of Transportation (TDOT) this week is upgrading signals at intersections throughout the community with flashing yellow left turn arrows to improve safety. Research indicates that left-turn collisions are reduced with flashing yellow arrows. During a flashing left turn arrow, motorists should yield to oncoming motorists and bicyclists, yield to pedestrians in crosswalks, and proceed with caution when turning left.
Work will take place on Tuesday, May 14, at the 22nd Street and Kolb Road intersection. On Wednesday, May 15, work shifts to the Broadway Boulevard and Kolb Road intersection, followed on Thursday, May 16, at the Kolb Road/Grant Road/Tanque Verde Road intersection. The work will take place from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily.
During the improvements, Tucson Police officers will direct travel through the intersections until the work is completed. Travelers can expect delays when driving in these work zones and should allow for extra time during their commutes.
