Transportation Improvements Will Affect Travel in Three Locations

1) A repaving project is underway on 22nd Street from Houghton Road to one-half mile east. This includes removing existing asphalt and repaving. Manhole and water valve covers will be raised level with the new asphalt on Tuesday, June 19. Residential access will be maintained at all times during the project, but motorists can expect some delays.

2) Final paving of Tanque Verde Road between Sabino Canyon and Kolb/Grant Roads begins Wednesday, June 13. After completion, crews are scheduled to raise manhole and water valve covers flush with the new asphalt on Tuesday, June 19, and Wednesday, June 20. Business and residential access will be maintained at all times during the project, but you can expect some delays.

3) Side street closures along the south side of Grant Road will take place from today, June 11, through Thursday, June 14, to allow crews to remove old and abandoned underground water lines. Several streets from 6th Avenue east to Park Avenue will be closed from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m. The speed limit will be reduced to 25 mph in the area and that will cause traffic delays.

The Tucson Department of Transportation asks motorists to obey all traffic control signs and exercise additional caution for worker safety in these and all other work zones.
