After two near drownings and one drowning in city limits in 11 days, the Tucson Fire Department (TFD) is again stressing its safety message of the ABCs of drowning prevention. "A" is for adult supervision. Watch children at all times. "B" is for barriers. Have a fence that encloses the pool or spa and make sure the gates close and latch automatically. "C" is for CPR. Knowing CPR allows the parent or nearby person to be a first responder.
TFD says drowning is the leading cause of unintentional death for children between the ages of one and four.
