Celebrate 45 years of food, entertainment, and culture downtown at the annual Tucson Meet Yourself Folklife Festival this weekend. This free three-day event recognizes the traditional arts of Southern Arizona and Northern Mexico and their ethnic and folk communities. Hours are Friday and Saturday, Oct. 12 and 13, from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., and Sunday, Oct. 14, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
This year, Tucson Meet Yourself is centered on Jacome Plaza, outside the Joel D. Valdez Main Library, and runs along North Stone and Church avenues, between East Congress and Alameda streets. The celebration features artisans, food vendors, exhibitors, performers, dancers, and activities for children that celebrate diversity.
You can reach downtown via the Sun Link streetcar (free on Saturday) from points along The University of Arizona, Main Gate Square, 4th Avenue, and Mercado San Agustin.
