The City of Tucson Parks and Recreation department is seeking qualified, certified individuals to work as lifeguards and swimming instructors to work at the City’s summer pools, beginning in May 2018. The positions are non-permanent (seasonal, temporary, and intermittent).
A lifeguard must have knowledge of water hazards, lifesaving techniques and first aid, recognize hazardous situations, and adopt effective courses of action. The position requires proficient swimming ability and the proper application of rescue and first-aid techniques.
Applicants must be at least 15 years of age by May 27 and have certification in CPR or first aid basics from the American Red Cross. Tucson Parks and Recreation will be providing classes in lifeguard certification beginning later this month, and there will be screenings in March, April, and May. There are also opportunities to move into an instructor position.
