The 11th annual Tucson Polar Plunge is scheduled for Saturday, March 9, at the Highland Vista Pool, 315 N. Woodland Ave. Check-in and registration begin at 9 a.m. A costume contest and program start at 10 a.m. The plunge, also known as "Freezin' for a Reason," happens at 11:30 a.m.
The event benefits Special Olympics Arizona and is in support of the athletes who live in southern Arizona. Plungers must raise a minimum of $25 to plunge into the “icy waters” of the pool and sign a waiver form in order to participate. Plungers under the age of 18 must obtain signatures from a parent or guardian. There also will be music and food available at the event.
